what…
What are we doing here and what are we going to do together?
It’s not about spilling your guts or crying to strangers! It’s about being with other teens who get it. It’s about a time and space to share your heart and hear the hearts of others who are going through a lot of the same stuff you are. It’s about having ups and downs together, and having a uniquely qualified set of friends who want to walk the journey with you.
Our caring adult facilitators provide a safe and relaxed environment, and will help support (and sometimes guide) healthy, productive conversations. And get this, we are fun, too : ). We don’t want to just sit around and talk, we want to help you engage this process in all kinds of ways… sometimes fun and games are exactly what the doctor ordered! We want to play and create and inspire you to inspire and support each other. Our hope as facilitators is help everyone explore and process grief in meaningful and thought-provoking ways, which sometimes challenge but always encourage healing and growth.
We will talk about how the feelings of grief affect our lives, strategies on working through the pain, or just navigating a “new normal” after loss. We will share and honor memories, explore problems areas like concentrating in school and other activities, and discuss how our friends either support us or turn away. We will talk about how the household and family is dealing with and adjusting to the loss, and changes in family dynamics, parent/guardian expectations since the loss. Faith questions and struggles, and many other topics will be open for conversation and consideration.
